Have you ever seen a roller derby match? It’s basically skating, except the players are allowed to bump and crash into each other. Pretty cool right? If this sounds fun, the El Paso league starts March 22nd. There will also be food and games for families.

Hike To Old El Paso Tin Mines 🚶‍♀️‍➡️

Adventure awaits! Join a cool hike to the old El Paso Tin Mines on March 23rd. It’s a 6-mile trek where you can explore historic mining shafts. Pack water, snacks, and your hiking boots. It’s $5 for adults, but kids 5-12 hike free! Registration is required though so call the park office at (915) 444-9121 if you’re interested.

El Paso Museum and Cultural Center Opens 🙌

The wait is finally over. On March 22nd, the El Paso Museum and Cultural Center opens, and right next door, Cleveland Square Park is re-opening following its renovations. The museum highlights Mexican American art and culture. From 10 AM to 6 PM, dive into a day filled with art, dance, and yummy food. Don't miss the ribbon cutting, take a guided tour, and enjoy some hands-on fun.

Hyperbaric Medicine Now At Las Palmas 🏥

Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso just got a big thumbs up! It's the first in the city to be recognized for its awesome hyperbaric medicine, where they use a special chamber filled with lots of oxygen to help heal people faster. This is only the 11th hospital in all of Texas to have this distinction. Pretty cool.

First City Budget Planning Session 💵

El Paso's City Council just kicked off their first budget planning session, aiming to map out the city’s finances for the next five years. They discussed increasing the minimum wage for city workers by 20%, a move that costs $14 million but cleverly won’t hit taxpayers this year thanks to some smart budgeting. They're also focusing on how property taxes will fuel city projects, as property taxes are a major portion of the city budget.

Personally, I would like property taxes to be discusses more. They have always seemed really high to me.
