Award Winning El Paso Food 😋
El Paso is shining bright in the food world with several nominations for the 2025 James Beard Awards, known as the "Oscars of food."
These awards honor restaurants and chefs for making great food and supporting their community. Winners will be announced on June 16 in Chicago.
El Paso nominees:

Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker: Mateo Herrera, La Puerta del Sol
Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program: Taconeta
Advanced Manufacturing Coming To El Paso 🏗️
El Paso is taking big steps to become a leader in advanced manufacturing! The City Council approved a contract to kick off Phase 1 of the Advanced Manufacturing District (AMD) at the El Paso International Airport.
This project promises to bring aerospace and defense industries to the city, creating thousands of jobs and boosting the economy.
Mayor Renard Johnson said this will help provide high-paying jobs and position El Paso as a leader in innovation. The AMD is expected to support 300 new manufacturing companies and create about 4,000 engineering jobs and 13,000 technical jobs by 2030.
Phase 1 includes building three facilities to help small- and medium-sized manufacturers thrive.
Key Highlights:
Jobs: 4,000 engineering and 13,000 technical jobs by 2030
Phase 1 Build: One 50,000 sq. ft. building and two 100,000 sq. ft. multi-tenant facilities
Funding: $40 million grant from U.S. Economic Development Administration
Goal: Make El Paso a hub for aerospace and defense innovation
Time To Get Your Heart Pumping 💘
Get ready to show your heart some love! Live Active El Paso’s annual “Love Yourself, Love Your Heart” walk is happening Sunday, Feb. 2, at Scenic Drive.
The free, three-mile walk/run kicks off at 9 A.M. from the westside entrance—no registration needed!
The event starts with a warm-up routine and features wellness booths from community organizations. The Hospitals of Providence will offer free blood pressure screenings and heart health tips as part of their “Be Your Own Heart Hero” campaign.

Peanuts like you’ve never seen them before! Teatro Neplanta is putting a bold, modern spin on your favorite cartoon gang with Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead by Bert V. Royal.
Think teen drama meets classic comic strips—it’s hilarious, emotional, and totally unexpected.
