El Paso Teachers Win $25k Award 🎗️

Two outstanding Borderland educators, Nancy Chavira and Joshua Marmolejo, just hit the jackpot in the teaching world—earning the Milken Educator Award (aka the "Oscars of Teaching") and a $25,000 cash prize for their exceptional work.

Chavira, a Fabens ISD fifth-grade teacher, was surprised with the honor during a school assembly. She’s making history as Fabens' first-ever recipient, recognized for her bilingual classroom leadership.

Marmolejo, a P-TECH automotive tech leader at Clint High, is also the first from Clint ISD to receive the award. His program is paving the way for students in both education and the workforce. Congrats to two outstanding teachers!

El Paso’s First Coliseum Super Bowl Party 🎊

El Pasoans got to enjoy the Super Bowl on the big screen while giving back at the first-ever El Paso County Coliseum Super Bowl watch party. With just a $2 donation, attendees contributed to the American Red Cross to support L.A. wildfire victims.

The event was the brainchild of Steven Longoria, who witnessed the devastation in California firsthand. Wanting to help, he teamed up with the El Paso Sports Commission, South Coast Audio, and other local organizations to make the event happen. Around 200 people showed up, proving that football and philanthropy go hand in hand.

Lucchese Opens In Downtown 🥾

Lucchese just made Downtown El Paso a little more stylish. Located at 127 W. Mills Ave., the store isn’t just another retail space—it’s a full experience.

Shoppers can explore Lucchese’s latest styles, get custom fittings, and even sneak through a hidden passageway leading to a private tasting lounge. This marks the third Lucchese store in El Paso, solidifying its deep roots in the city where every handcrafted boot is made.

For those who missed the grand opening, the store is officially open for business. Whether you're looking for the perfect pair of boots, custom hats, or high-quality apparel, Lucchese is ready to outfit you from head to toe. If you've never tried on a Lucchese boot, now's your chance to see what makes them a step above the rest.

Sports

UTEP Stuns NMSU 🏀

The Miners finally got their revenge. After suffering a blowout loss to New Mexico State last month, UTEP fought tooth and nail to secure a 66-63 win at the Pan American Center—their first victory there since 2010.

The Aggies kept it close all night, but UTEP found clutch moments when it mattered most. David Terrell hit a massive three, and Otis Frazier, despite early struggles, sank two critical free throws in the final seconds. A missed NMSU three at the buzzer sealed the deal.

Up next, the Miners return home Thursday to take on Florida International.

Eagles Win Big 🏆

The Philadelphia Eagles crushed the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, shutting down Patrick Mahomes and spoiling KC’s shot at a three-peat. Jalen Hurts threw for two touchdowns, ran for another, and took home Super Bowl MVP honors.

Philly’s defense, led by Josh Sweat and Cooper DeJean, kept the Chiefs in check all night. With this dominant win, the Eagles secured their second Super Bowl title—and proved the doubters wrong.
