Local News

Revolutionary Water Facility Started 💧

El Paso Water has broken ground on the nation’s first direct-to-distribute water reuse facility, the Pure Water Center, located on Pan American Drive in the Lower Valley. This $295 million project will use advanced purification methods to turn wastewater into clean drinking water, providing an additional 10 million gallons per day for residents.

Construction is expected to be completed by 2028. This facility represents a significant milestone in water sustainability and aims to serve as a model for other communities facing water challenges.

EPISD Plans To Cut Costs 🏫

To help with a big budget shortfall, El Paso ISD is requiring high school non-core teachers to add an extra class next year, meaning they’ll teach 7 out of 8 periods. While this won’t affect work hours or pay, teachers feel it will hurt their ability to plan extracurricular activities.

The district says it’s working to save money without layoffs but is facing challenges. Teachers are frustrated that cuts are affecting them and their students, while some suggest the district should also address issues like student absenteeism instead of just focusing on staffing changes.

If you want to stop by, the store is located at The Shoppes at Solana, 750 Sunland Park Dr.
