🌞Semi-Truck Nearly Rolls Off Of Freeway

Good morning, El Paso. Yesterday I asked what everyone thought was the most iconic landmark in El Paso and I was shocked only half of you chose the El Paso star. Maybe I’m the crazy one.

In today’s Border City Buzz:

  • El Paso Orchestra + A Rock Band

  • Ideas To Improve The Driving In El Paso

  • Huge Solar Farm Opened In San Eli

Let’s get to it.

Things To Do

For Adults

Paint, Sip, Eat + Vibes 🖌️

Ok, I know I shared a plant pot painting yesterday, but there’s another cool one coming up that I have to share as well. On March 20th at Wine Down in Socorro from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. there’s another sip, eat and paint event. Pick a cool succulent, decorate your terracotta pot, and enjoy the vibes. If you’re like me, your succulent probably won’t last, but at least you’ll have a neat pot.

📅 Date & Time: March 20th, 6:30 P.M. - 8:30 P.M.
📍 Location: Wine Down Socorro, 10245 Socorro Rd, Socorro, TX 79927
🎟️ Register: Click here

Business Networking Opportunity 🧑‍💼

Interested in networking for your business? Come meet new friends and share ideas at the Downtown Business Mixer, happening March 19th at La Bang Bang! Bring your business cards, enjoy some great conversations, and hear cool tips from guest speaker Joe Gudenrath. It’s free, but an RSVP is required.

📅 Date & Time: March 19, 4:30 P.M. - 6:30 P.M.
📍 Location: La Bang Bang, 414 E San Antonio Ave, Downtown El Paso
🎟️ RSVP: Click here

Remember The Band Journey? 🎸

The band Journey is a little before my time, but some of their songs are so iconic that everyone knows them even if they didn’t grow up in that era. With that being said, there’s a cool show coming up next week at the Plaza Theatre which combines a live rock band with the El Paso Orchestra. Don’t Stop Believin’, this should be a good one. You can get tickets here.

Local News

New Solar Farm Opened ☀️

El Paso Electric just opened a huge new solar farm in San Elizario! This sunny spot, about the size of 70 football fields, has nearly 19,000 shiny solar panels to power homes using clean energy. It’s estimated that about 5,000 more families will enjoy cheaper electricity from the sun. It's like magic, but cooler! The new panels will be fully working by late 2025.

Semi-Truck Nearly Rolls Off Of Freeway🚛

Yesterday a semi-truck almost rolled off the freeway near U.S. 54. I shared an Instagram link below where you can see some of the photos but wow what a close call. Luckily, nobody was hurt and they are still investigating what led to the crash; however, if I had to guess I’d say it was something to do with the winds.

Ideas To Improve The Driving In El Paso 🚙

Have you noticed how bad the driving in El Paso has been lately? Well it seems like the city has taken note as well and so the El Paso Metropolitan Planning Organization will be hosting several pop-ups where you can bring forth your ideas of how to fix the problem. If you have some good solutions, or just want your voice to be heard, you can view upcoming locations and times for these meetings on their Facebook page here.

City Council Approves Travel Fund ✈️

El Paso's city leaders just decided to set aside special money for traveling. They'll visit places like Austin and Washington, D.C., to speak up for our city. Not everyone agreed—two voted no, and one even walked out, but ultimately it still passed. Now they can travel without using money meant for local projects.
