El Paso’s Bold Water Fix 💦

El Paso is taking bold steps to fight Texas’ water crisis by becoming one of the first U.S. cities to directly turn wastewater into drinking water—what some call “toilet-to-tap.” Through advanced filtration, UV light, and added minerals, the new Pure Water Center will produce up to 10 million gallons a day by 2028.

This ambitious project is the result of years of planning, education, and conservation efforts by El Paso Water. With shrinking rivers, unreliable rain, and growing demand, city leaders are reusing what they already have. It’s smart, sustainable, and could inspire other water-strapped cities to follow suit.

Hydrant Checks in Progress 🚒

The El Paso Fire Department is flushing hydrants and conducting routine tests to ensure they’re ready for emergencies. This annual process checks hydrant performance and might temporarily cause water discoloration. The city encourages residents to run cold water to clear it up, helping maintain public safety and water system reliability.

Water Main Gets Maintenance 💧

El Paso Water crews are busy in Central El Paso replacing some important valves on a water main. Don’t worry—there’s no water break! The water on the street is from “de-watering” the pipe so work can get done. Everything should be finished in about a week and a half.
